Wizard of Oz Plus Left 4 Dead Equals Awesome

image

If Dorothy, the Tin Human race and the rest killed zombies instead of warring winged monkeys, it might look something like this.

New takes along The Wizard of Oz may not be quite as common as reimaginings of Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland, but they'Re not exactly unheard of – which is why it's slightly amazing that information technology took and then long for someone to combine information technology with Valve's Leftist 4 Dead. As MTV Multiplayer's Russ Frushtick puts information technology, it makes unflawed signified in hindsight:

Four individuals (and a dog) with little in demotic are thrown together by fate and must figure out jointly, overcoming challenge subsequently challenge in their way, ready to pull through. It's practically the same story, only if one aggroup doesn't get a Good Witch to aid them out and one group needs to care with magical poppy W. C. Fields.

Okay, perchance it isn't the same story at all, but wouldn't it be badass if it were?

The Left 4 Oz image you see here to the reactionary was created for ConceptArt's "Character of the Week" contest, the entries for which bum be much easily seen on SuperPunch. Piece some of the other entries are cool, none of them are Left 4 Dead which automatically makes this one the coolest of them all.

What I like the most approximately the mock poster is how effectively it apes the elan of Valve's actual Left 4 Dead campaign images. You have the iv Survivors standing together in caller poses material possession their various weapons, you have the cheesy-yet-awesome crusade title ("The Road," in this case) and an evenly cheesy-yet-awesome one-line drive take hold of-musical phrase.

Seeing as how two of the Left 4 Oz Survivors are victimization melee weapons – the Tin Man's wood axe and the Scarer's pitchfork – this game would clearly be using the L4D2 engine, which makes me wonder what sort of Exceptional Infected this level would have. Zombie Munchkins could be cool, but they'd exist a trifle overmuch like the Jockey. Zombie Flying Monkeys, on the former hand? Is that a recipe for puerility little terror or what?

I'd totally play this game. I really, really would. The only question in my mind is: Would all the original L4D fans hate Dorothy because she International Relations and Security Network't their precious Zoey? I guess we'll (unluckily) ne'er know.

Dibs on playacting as the Cowardly Lion.
